[Exhibition Statement]
GEIDAI BIBLIOSCAPE 2026 is a book art exhibition themed around “the book as an objet (object)”.
This exhibition approaches book art as a form of contemporary art, focusing on its diverse expressions and potential. Book art has evolved beyond “the book” as a medium meant simply to be read, developing instead into an artistic practice with an inward, embodied sensibility; it has also developed as visual art that represents the presence, function, or authority of the book as a medium. Each work exhibited in BIBLIOSCAPE 2026 fully demonstrates its creators’ imagination and experimental spirit, presenting—through the book in a broad sense as an object—new perspectives and ways of thinking that overturn conventional assumptions about the form and function of books. Through these innovative approaches, the exhibition offers an opportunity to reconsider the role of the book as a medium.
